Lee Anthony Recalls When He Found Out Caylee was Missing

The seventh day of the State vs. Casey Anthony trial went into effect on Wednesday in the Roger A. Barker Courtroom in Orange County.

Casey's brother Lee Anthony testified and his testimony revealed what exactly happened inside the Anthony's home, the night Casey claimed that her 2-year-old, Caylee Marie Anthony, was missing for 31 days.

The 25-year-old accused of murdering her daughter and dumping the remains in the woods near her family's home was described by her mother Cindy Anthony as being an "unfit mother for Caylee," according to the defendant's brother. Lee recalls her replying, "Maybe I am."

It all began the day of July 15, after a prolong attempt to see her granddaughter after an entire month, Cindy was furious, which was evident in the three 911 calls she made to the Orange County Police Department that the State played for the jury on Tuesday.

Cindy contacted the police department to report that her daughter stole her car and money. On the recordings, you hear a very upset mother tell Casey, "If that's the way you want to play, then we'll do it."

In Lee's testimony, he states that his father, George Anthony, called him to tell him to go to the home because of an altercation between Cindy and Casey.

When he arrived to his parents' home, no one was there. Minutes later, his mother and sister approach, and Lee is informed by his mother that she hasn't seen Caylee and that Casey refuses to allow her to, continuously saying that she's with the nanny.

Lee stated that prior to this day he never knew of a nanny, and was unaware that his niece was even being babysat by one.

Casey explained to her brother that the baby was asleep and that she didn't want to disturb her daughter or interfere with her routine.

Lee repeatedly asked, "Why won't you let us see Caylee?"

Casey's response would be along the line of, "She's asleep, we'll get her tomorrow."

After numerously questioning his niece's whereabouts and his sister's reasoning for not allowing Lee and his mother to see the baby, Casey's response went from, "She's asleep," to, "Because I'm a spiteful bitch," according to Lee.

Lee said he tried to play the peacemaker and tried to get an answer from his sister.

"At one point," Lee began, "she said that Caylee was missing; that someone had kidnapped her."

That's when Casey began expressing the way her mother characterized her.

"My mother had referred to Caylee as being a mistake," said Lee. "But a great mistake or the best mistake Casey has ever made."

Lee says that up to this day he is still aggravated with his sister, stating, "Nothing makes sense to me."

If the alleged baby-killer is found guilty, she may have to face the death penalty. According to state prosecutor Linda Drane Burdick, the trial is "about half way" to the end and is expected to be over in up to two weeks.
